Dear Susan,

I am very pleased with my home, and thankfully there have been no unexpected surprises (costs)! I love being able to walk, and being close to downtown, and can hardly wait until the weather is warmer for all of the local festivals, etc. I have a roommate since January. I do feel lucky about having found a place in my price range and preferred location, especially in such a "sellers market" and when so many other people I know are still looking!

I've not done any renovating to date but one of my first priorities will be the garden! Will have you over once it's warmer!

Susan marshaled her resources, and during our first meeting, showed us the possibilities. Her capably spry assistant Chantel, pulled down listed and unlisted properties, while we consulted. My partner and I were new to Ottawa, in fact, we had exactly one window of opportunity to find something in a somewhat hot market. Susan took a risk with us, and we found the house we would be proud to entertain our parents (and in-laws) in! We have had more visitors and as many gorgeous sunrises as we could hope for! Meeting Susan was one of the most welcoming experiences we have had for many years-- What a negotiator! Susan boldly voiced our wish! "All appliances and you have to move before my clients arrive," she said. (And that meant 6 months earlier than they had planned...) Well the buyers were delighted and we have smiled ever since! Susan was the reason we live in such a great home! She kept saying "Let's think about that!" She kept asking what each of us thought. Susan's system is pretty good when it comes to reconciling interests: she'll go for the best possible outcome!

As first-time home buyers, the entire real-estate world seemed quite intimidating for us. After telling Susan what our "Dream-Home" would be, she went out and found it for us. Buying a first home is so exciting that at times, we tended to forget to be realistic about the layout, features and location of houses we looked at. Susan took the time to help us to make decisions that were best for us - not just in the short term, but as our family grows. She reminded us all of the time to think of what we would do if we lived in the home we were looking at, and how we would use the features of each home. She also helped us learn about home buying without getting stuck in a situation we were not prepared for. We have been in our home for over 4 years now and are still impressed we did so well on our first purchase!
